Philippe Rahm's Air Exchanger: Wood + Glass = Fresh Air

013009 wood ventilator.jpgI don't think we have ever talked about an air exchanger on unplggd. Good looking air purifiers yes, but not air exchangers. This is probably because air exchangers aren't particularly exciting and are about as visually interesting as the furnace in your basement. Seems that architect Philippe Rahm thinks this shouldn't be the case.

013009 wood ventilator 2.jpgAir exchangers do one thing, switch the stale inside air with fresh outside air while balancing the temperature in the process, usually while being hidden away. This concept does the exact opposite. Not only does it turn a utilitarian appliance into a good looking glass sculpture, you get the "odeur de Paris" through the included sliced wood rings. Hmm, the smell of Paris. Is that a good thing?
