The Pure Air Sleep System Air Purifier Keeps You Breathing Easy While You Sleep

061909PNSS-Best-500.jpgThe Pure Air Sleep System Air Purifier is one of those home tech gadgets that look like something we'd half expect Michael Jackson to use on a regular basis. As strange as it looks, we don't doubt it probably does help extreme allergy sufferers get better rest; when we place our home HEPA air purifier closer to the bed, our allergen reactions on the worst days noticeably improve. Preferably the system would have been incorporated into a more decor friendly form, perhaps disguised as bedside/floor lamp or incorporated into a headboard instead of presented as a strange series of tubes. But as Mom used to say, "health comes first!"

061909PNSS-diagram.jpgThe Pure Air Sleep System Air Purifier tucks away the air filtering unit underneath the bed, with a HEPA filtration that removes 99% of all airborne allergens greater then 0.3 microns, which is good because you have to place the unit underneath one of the most common areas for dust. The purified air is directed through an adjustable height tube to be released directly near where your head rests, ensuring your purified air isn't diluted by surrounding air as much as possible (well, unless you wear a mask directly hooked up to the purifier). The system reportedly changes the air out of a room up to 1200 per hour while operating at up to less than $0.02 per night (@ $0.10/kwh). The unit also supposedly is "whisper quiet", but as with all filtration devices, the description is very subjective.

pure air? that term just strikes me as odd and gimicky, much like the device pictured.

@matt, agreed. wtf is "pure air"? Air is mix of many gasses and particles and isn't so specifically defined as to possibly be "pure".
