Zuvo Water Filter: Supercharged and Cheaper in the Long Run

080509_rg_zuvofilter_01.jpgWater is the source of life. Without it, living organisms quickly die. Having a clean source of water is very important. That being said, it's a known fact that a lot of households use extra filters to purify their water even more. We've noticed Brita filters and faucet filters all over the place. It's easy to have a pitcher in your fridge, because most of us enjoy our water cold, but are these types of filters the cheapest and best way to drink your water?

080509_rg_zuvofilter_02.jpgAs mentioned in other posts, we do not believe that tap water is bad to drink. There are laws in the US that make sure of that. However, this doesn't stop people from using extra filters regardless or water fountains. We've noticed a difference in taste as well. In the end, it all goes down to personal preference. The taste of the water usually depends on its hardness. The harder it is, the worse it tastes. Now if you use Brita-like filter on your drinking water, then maybe the Zuvo filtration system is for you. In the long run, it's actually quite cheaper, even if it costs more in the beginning. The added benefit of using a filter than buying bottled water is that you don't have to dispose of the plastic bottles.

080509_rg_zuvofilter_03.jpgThe Zuvo Water Purator uses a new filtration method that has five steps. It uses ozone, ultraviolet light, photo-oxidation, filtration, and post-filtration to make your water as pure as it can be. This is a lot more than most filters. This makes this system great to use in places where tap water isn't as safe as in the US, like Asia and Mexico. The filter will last up to 6 months. The UV light will last 3 years. Both of these depend upon general use.

080509_rg_zuvofilter_04.jpgIf you look at the charts which come from studies that the company made, the Zuvo Purator is cheaper to operate than any filtration system on the market, even the Brita pitchers. You'll pay 6 cents a gallon. Also, Zuvo creates a lot less waste in filters. It's available for $200 here. Extra filters will cost you $30.

It's called overkill.

Do NOT rely on a device like this to kill microbes in your water supply if drinking from an unsafe source. Ultraviolet light is not a replacement for boiling or sterile filtration - the effects of UV require optimal exposure without any bubbles or particulate, and even then something could get through.
