Carrier Programmable Thermostats: Now with a Pretty Face

2008_07_10 carrier_thermostats.jpgI replaced the manual thermostat at my place a little while ago with a programmable one. Great for simply and easily adjusting the temperature based on when I am in and out of the house, but it left a lot to be desired in the looks department. White plastic, a crappy green LED screen and thick enough to stick out like a sore thumb on the wall. Where was the Carrier thermostat when I needed it?

Only 8/10ths of an inch thick and available with seven different trim plates, you can either blend this with your wall or pop it from your panelling. You can even program each day of the week from the comfort of your PC with the external ExP card. I've gotta get me one of these.

Love this! A HUGE improvement over those white/beige plastic ones that stick out and look horrible. Now I just have to find one.

Anyone have an idea of their price range? And is this something one could easily install on their own?

I looked it up and the seem to be going for around $120-140ish. I think you could install it yourself.

Ah, and only four times as expensive as your basic chunk of white plastic ugliness. If I hadn't already installed a programmable thermostat, I MIGHT think about it, but no way can I justify an upgrade. It is pretty, tho.
