We have spoiled all the food in our fridge once. It was unfortunate because the one time we accidentally left the fridge door ajar was the same time we went out of town for a week. Now if we had this battery operated fridge alarm the smell of foul meat and spoiled milk would not have been what greeted us after a nice vacation.
After being exposed to light for more than 30 seconds, this device sounds an alarm to remind you that the door is still open. If you are one of those people that tend to ponder the days events while looking into your fridge then this might not be for you, otherwise you can find it here on sale for $6.99.

It's kind of cool-looking, but isn't this just another useless gadget for the most part? How often does one really leave their refrigerator door ajar? And, if it's just a question of a fridge door not completely closing and sealing, wouldn't a light-sensitive indicator be of no use? Maybe we should just get in the habit of closing the door and pocketing the 7 bucks.

Despite the fact that our fridge in our apartment is relatively new, the door doesn't always shut all the way (and we don't know it) I'm not sure if I'd drop money on a gadget just for this purpose, but its tempting. Maybe if it were an air ionizer AND a "door ajar" alarm, I'd be less hesitant. Cool idea though. Maybe this ought to be integrated into the fridge itself?

We have an LG side-by-side and it has the door alarm feature built-in. Sometimes it's great, but most of the time it's just bloody annoying if you're like me and don't shut the door in-between steps to make something as quick and easy as chocolate milk. I think it's becoming a fairly common feature for newer, higher-end fridges, but I suppose if you have an older model this might come in handy.

Like SpaceMonkeyX, our fridge also has a built-in alarm and I hate it more than I love it. It's especially annoying for me when I'm trying to unload groceries and have to keep shutting the door, reopening, shutting, reopening ... or else deal with the obnoxious beeping of the alarm.
