How shall we start this post about a free OS X app which allows you the opportunity to return to a time when you could focus solely and completely upon your writing without the intrusion of other windows, emails, pop-ups, chat notification and all the other distracting elements related to using a modern word processor/operating system? Omm Writer is for those of us who want to block out everything and get back to the joy of writing.
Change the background, ambient music/noises (we love the lapping shore soundtrack), font size, and the sound effects for text input to your heart's content. The experience is akin to watching one of those staged word processing scenes in movies where a whole screen is taken up by a single text application with large font sizes.
Give it a try, it's a free download and a remarkably liberating experience to be able to refocus on the joy of writing without intrusion. We wrote this post in record time using Omm Writer, so we can vouch for the application's utility and beauty.

Very nice.

Shame you can't wrap the background and music into a package and ship them off to a web site. It would make for some truly unique blog experiences (wonderwall meets bing home page meets your blog).
