Audio Technica ATH-ESW9 Sovereign Wood Headphones

2007-10-04ath-esw9.jpgAudio Technica’s sleek new headphones are driven by 42-millimeter neodymium magnets housed in a fiberglass support system, and feature wood from “Japan’s finest Hokkaido cherry tree.”

These are a far more traditional way to show off Audio Technica’s ability to produce great sound than, say, their Columino speakers. Although the protective case means you can travel with them, these would look just as great resting on fine wood furniture.

They’ll be available for in-person drooling come October 19th, and retail for $330.

But why would one cut down the finest cherry trees for this?
