Enlighten
Unplggd Test Lab

Name: case-mate Enlighten
Price: $79
Rating: Weak Recommend*

My Kindle 2 and I are rather inseparable. A late adopter to the digital book scene, I continue to be surprised at just how much I continue to love my Kindle 2 and use it 6 months after its purchase. So when the opportunity came to review a new accessory for the Kindle 2, the prototype of the Enlighten by case-mate, I jumped at the chance. The Enlighten is a case made of genuine leather in an Old English book style and is the first case on the market equipped with a LED powered light for nighttime reading as well as an interior side pocket for storage.

The makers of the dynamo Dynolight recently debuted, at the Oregon Handmade Bicycle Show, a super bright new Light On! tail light created by Brian Engelen.

The Cup Communicator by Duncan Wilson

There is nothing like the old school, especially when you are talking about the neat telephones that one used to talk to their neighbor using a very long string and two cups. Behold the Cup Communicator by Duncan Wilson, walkie talkies designed to look like that very same paper cup telephone.

Awesome Anechoic Chamber: McIntosh Laboratories, 1979

Looking at the Sound Egg Chair reminded us of some great retro images we saw from the 1979 construction of the anechoic chamber that McIntosh Laboratories used for testing their audio equipment.

10 Digital Kitchen Scales We Love
Roundup

A little over a year ago, our sister site the Kitchn extolled the virtues of the kitchen scale. I had, like the author of this post thought that kitchen scales were something for calorie counters and that I was quite alright baking using my measuring cups. After reading this post and taking a few pastry classes at culinary school, I began to feel the need for a little digital kitchen scale of my own.

Feeling Qooqy? Qooq, a Computer Built Just For the Kitchen

As an avid home baker with a penchant for recipes found on blogs, we frequently bring the laptop into the kitchen. We try our best to avoid spills, and getting our beloved MacBook Pro covered in flour fingerprints, but have often toyed with the idea of having tech that was built specifically for the purpose that our laptop now serves in the kitchen, tech that we would not be afraid to get dirty and could handle the rigors of our baking regimen. So when we spotted the Qooq today, we were immediately intrigued...
