The blind and visually impaired may not be able to see things clearly, but they definitely can “feel” them. This camera concept has a shape and functions like a conventional camera, but the only difference between your point-and-shoot and this award-winning design is a built-in Braille printer for printing the shot....
Wearable techie love is always welcome in our house (You know, like the fictional Unplggd manor? We like to imagine that it's pimped out with the latest and greatest gadgets we can't really afford). In the same retro-cool and geek-chic stylings as
We're all geeks here. No need to be bashful. But what a lot of people don't seem to get is that there are many different classifications of the geek hierarchy and not all geeks are created equal. You've got Apple geeks, gadget geeks, TV geeks, Trekkie geeks, anime geeks... there's too many to name (But somebody tried—a link to "56 Geeks" is under the jump). And for each kind of geek, there are different types of gadgets out there to make his media room, or in this case, a bedside table, complete. The Tokibot Robot Clock is for the sci-fi geek...
Sticky notes are one of our analog subjects on Unplggd because of their common use in offices and their resemblance to a pixelated image when plastered across a wall. (See our posts about
We don't have to remind you that times are tough. We're all cutting corners where we deem fit to do so. If you're one of many that has canceled your cable service in favor of using web-based TV streams and NetFlix— or if your NetFlix subscription is simply not something you could give up—we've found a Web application that wants to help you get the most out of your monthly NetFlix fees and get more DVDs for your hard-earned cheese.
Happy New Year everyone! We're sure you're happy to see Unplggd back with regular coverage after our end of 2008 roundup—but bloggers need a break to celebrate the holidays, too! Did you notice that it seemed like every office party
Of all the tech we saw in 2008, none seemed more versatile than the super-duper-extra-hyped Apple iPhone 3G. It's a great smartphone on it's own, but when you combine it's powers with a programs downloaded from the App Store, you can pretty much turn that little hunk of metal, plastic and wiring into any gadget you want. Our favorites from 2008 included making your iPhone into
Whether you're a meticulous organizer who plans their life down to the second or a free spirit who marches to the ticking of their own timepiece, you have a clock (or seven) in your life and home to keep you on your unique schedule. So why not make sure that your timekeeper is something awesome to behold? You can take your pick from
Every few months—like clockwork, set to the first sight of invitations to top-secret Apple publicity events—we start speculating about what's next from Apple. Rumors surrounded the most recent Apple show when SteveJobs teased that "It's all about the brick," leading the blogosphere to go nuts trying to figure out what 'the brick' was. (
Little is known so far about this tiny computer microphone from
What does a father do when his toddler daughter, apparently exercising her creative juices as a drummer, won't stop banging on his desktop computer keyboard? He comes up with a DIY project that costs only a few bucks, takes up only a few minutes of your time and has the added bonus of decluttering your desktop. A perfect project for those of you who are now using wall-mounted computer monitors as your only "television" but want to keep a clean looking media center. So what cheap and easily obtained product (or three, hint hint!) made this DIY possible? You know the drill...
Buying a big gadget; like a computer, a car or a refrigerator; is a really big deal. For months, you've probably saved up and shopped around for the best brands and the best deals, and n the process, you've probably become pretty stoked about your upcoming purchase. So when you finally get the thing into the office, driveway or kitchen, why would you want to waste valuable playing time by reading the instruction manual? Maybe because it could save your ass one day. In case you were so excited on the big fridge reveal day (lol) that you actually lost the manual, maybe this site can help...
Don't know exactly what it is, but we love the look of this tiny, plain dual-display digital clock. Originally meant for traveling, we think this tiny alarm clock could be just as useful to non-flying small, cool space dwellers. Because when it comes down to it, we think you'd appreciate a stylish, modern clock that's half the size of an international passport more in a 260 square foot studio apartment in New York City...
It's one of those things people talk about, but that we're not sure anybody has ever really done anything about it—buying a breathalyzer for personal use. Sure, it would be handy to know if the guy who says "I'm fine to drive" as you're leaving the bar really is fine to drive, but nobody's gonna carry a massive breathalyzer with them while they're just trying to get sloshed and have a good time. The iBreath—so named because it works alongside your iPod—is small enough to stash in the tightest of pockets, but we're still trying to figure out why the designers decided to attach it to an iPod...
