Traditionally, powerline networking utilizes your existing power wiring to connect your computers to the internet. With simple devices plugged into both your computer(s) and modem/router, you can easily create a home network. The article gives you a good overview of how powerline networking works, and most interestingly, discusses the next soon-to-be released generation of the technology. What's promising about this advancement is that devices will be available not only to network your computers, but also share television and audio signals. This opens the door to being a bit closer to wire-free AV setups. We can't get rid of the need for power, so why not use it to do everything?
