We learned the hard way that pets and home technology should be kept separately. All it took was a new chew-y little bunny rabbit and a few delicious forgotten floor lamp cords behind the couch to figure that one out. (Disclaimer: No rabbits were harmed in the making of this post.) But it turns out there's a whole lot more to worry about than wire-chewing. According to a survey carried out by Petplan, the iPod tops the list of "gadget most likely to injure pets." What else made the list?
Fifteen percent of the 3000 survey respondents appear to have cited their iPod in pet accidents. While around 10 percent cited the laptops, remote controls, Plasma TVs and Wiis.
Only 5.8 percent of the survey's respondents said that their cellphones caused injury to their pets, the same number that admitted that their pets had been hurt by their karaoke machine.
While you should always be worried about your pets' health, especially in the case of curious kittens and hungry little bunnies, take this survey with a grain of salt. Petplan, the sponsor, sells health insurance for animals.
Have your animals ever destroyed your gadgets?

my darling little bunny has taken the time to destroy every one of my lamps (I think he was offended by the poor light quality of the fluorescents). Worst of all, he chewed up my precious internet cable. He was completely unharmed. But very grounded.

definite! I have 2 cats and only 1 loves wires. She destroyed wires of 3-pair of headsets/headphones, and the earphone wire of 2 mini-phones (total loss is about $200).
My other cat, luckily, loves plastic bags and she doesn't bite them, she "tastes" them by licking the bag over and over and over and over again.

My bunny chewed through my cell phone wire. But lucky, all you have to do is strip the plastic around it and retie the two wires inside. Mine still works even though it looks like hell!
Never leave wires on the ground. I tape them underneath tables or along the wall. Plus, it makes less clutter!

how the hell does an ipod hurt an animal? The only thing I can think of is it falls off the table and clunks you pet on the head.... or if you chuck it at them. Any real life examples?
