We're catching up on our RSS feeds after neglecting our duties to roam the blogosphere in favor of spending some quality time with loved ones. We're sorry we missed this post on lifehacker from last Thursday (that was thanksgiving, if you're keeping score): they've compiled a list from readers on the free software they're most thankful for. In their 46-item salute to indie hackers and giant internet companies alike, we've found some goodies that we've been using for years (Firefox grabbed the top spot on the list), and some others we've never heard of but want to take a peek...
The Free Software to be Most Thankful For
Of the list of the "46 Free Desktop Software Applications, Webapps, and Projects We're Most Thankful For," we found some standbys like Firefox, G-Mail and the rest of the Google suite.
But some others got us interested: Adium is an instant messaging application for Mac OS X that can connect to AIM, MSN, Jabber, Yahoo, and more and helps to correct your IM grammar, CCleaner (which stands for "Crap Cleaner") scans your PC for unnecessary temporary and log files, cookies, memory dumps, and more and wipes them out at the press of the "Run Cleaner" button, and RocketDock is an OS X-like Dock for your Windows computer.

I love Gom player. I use that over all the others now. It plays everything and if it can't I just have to download the right codec and I'm set!

This list is great. I'm a major computer-apps junkie, so I'm sure I'll check out every item on the list.
I love Picasa. You can download Picasa 3 for free to your computer, edit your pictures, and then upload them to your online Picasa albums. There is also an option to sync the two, and when looking at pictures online you have an option of editing sending them to Picasa on your computer to edit. The online albums also provide you with html code so you can put them in your blogs, websites, etc.
