Bodum Gives Kitchen Appliances a Splash of Color

bodum_toaster_sz_081309.jpg We've always been big fans of Bodum. They tend to make kitchen gear that's both unique, yet basic. This year, they've brought in a bit of color into their line of goods. Above is their new Bistro toaster. The $80 bread warmer comes in eight different rubberized colors and features a built-in, pop-up warming rack for keeping yummies warm. Plus there's two adjustable-width toasting slots and a footed base with cord retainer to adjust cord length. We could do without a large logo on the side though...

bodum_tea_kettle_sz_081309.jpg We also love this great electric tea kettle. For years we've been looking for a decent looking water boiler that doesn't look like it came straight out of the Sky Mall catalog (no offense) and this may be the closest thing we've found. Unfortunately it doesn't look like this bad boy is available in the U.S., the issue with most well designed electric tea kettles. Seems like plug-in kettles aren't necessarily popular here in the states.

Yes, logos should be subtle. Companies should take cues from others such as Apple that use simple symbols rather than words to represent their branding.

Speaking of Apple and colors... as long as translucent plastics don't make a return, colors are cool in my book :)
