Wrong Side of the Format War? Go Red2Blu

042309_tf_RIPHDDVD.jpgBe honest, did you go out and stock up all your favorite movies in HD DVD because they were gonna be the next big thing? Plenty of people dove into high-def and then one day (March 28, 2008 to be exact, when the HD DVD Promotion Group was dissolved) found themselves waking up in the wrong side of the format war when Blu Ray took over as the high-def optical disk of choice. What to do? Swap your Warner Brothers' HD DVD cover art plus five bucks plus S&H for a brand spankin' new Blu Ray of the same title with their Red2Blu exchange program...

For $4.95 plus $6.95 shipping (within the continental US) you can send in the original packaging art for your HD-DVDs (They just need the paper insert—you can keep the case and the disk!) to Warner Brothers and receive the Blu-ray disk of the same title back in the mail.

You can mail in up to 25 covers per household, and you can take advantage of a flat shipping rate to get a bunch of new Blu-rays for only $5 a piece. Pretty good deal for anyone with a bunch of their favorite movies on HD DVD. Although, we'd love to see a more wide-spread plan for movies from all different studios, not just the good ol' WB.

Check out the official Red2Blu Web site to see a list of eligible titles and get to swappin'.
