Belkin Energy Saving Power Outlet

As you may already know, leaving many of your devices plugged into a wall socket or power outlet means that they are consuming electricity even when you aren't using them. This adds up if you have a lot of devices and gadgets that are always plugged in. The simple way around this is to physically unplug them and plug them in only when they are in use, but that can easily get tedious.

The other way is to use a Belkin Conserve Power Surge Protector. This surge protector looks prety standard, but the difference is in the wall-mountable wireless switch. This switch cuts the power to all of your gadgets when they aren't in use. Certain items, such as a router, wireless access point or a clock, can be plugged into the two "always on" outlets.

It comes with a total of eight outlets with safety covers, a cable guide and a circuit breaker switch. The remotes come with channel switches, that way if you have more than one, the signal doesn't get any interference. It's not exactly mentioned how much you can save, but our guess is that it all adds up, especially if you install these outlets in all of your rooms.

The Belkin Conserve Surge Protector is available from their online store for about $50..

The Belkin website says that it's coming soon. Since they unveiled the product in January I've been waiting for the product to reach the market.

You shouldn't give them an inch more publicity till they produce the product. This smacks of Vaporware!!
