Cell Charger Battery Shelf

Phone charger as building material? That is what Brooklyn-based designer Simon Spagnoletti proposes with his concept piece Battery Shelf. With a little help from his design, your phone cord can build itself its own support.

As its designer describes, "The Battery shelf gives your phone a home as well as an providing an iconographic reminder to plug it in. The power cord no longer needs to hide in shame; its role in keeping you connected is proudly displayed."

A nice idea, but who has only one thing to charge? The last thing I want to do when I stop charging my phone and start charging my headset or my mp3 player or my camera is unwind one cord and wind another in, and leaving all of them wound just means a different pile of dangling cables.

wow, that is a pretty great concept. i would definitely be willing to try that out at home. it would be a great way to eliminate having to keep my devices on my desk or on the floor...and build vertically, mwahaha.

@Rich Lafferty: I could see one having a series of shelves, one for each device.
