Load-Ding

2007-04-11-chargerthing.jpgDo your electronics deserve their own landing strip? Before you completely scoff this thing off as a waste of space and money. Ponder this, it's bright, sculptural, and hides your power outlet. And, no more cords dragging over to the nearest tabletop. It's a movable shelf, for only $13.

2007-04-12-loaddinginstr.jpgLoad-ding or "Load Thing" is made by a German company, and doesn't appear to be for sale in the US. We think its a clever cord-control solution, we just wish we could find it here. Oh well, we'll just have to keep it in mind on our next trip to Berlin (and become their offical US reseller.)

For more information, head over here if you speak German. It doesn't appear that they ship outside of Europe, but maybe some of you more fluent in German can confirm this.

Since it unfolds flat, this would be really great for travel. I hate having my phone sitting on the floor of a hotel room to charge.

Indeed, as "Vereinigte Staaten von Amerika" is one of the options in shipping address drop-down, it certainly looks as if you could order it. I also love that plug-in usb adapter...is that something I can get here?

Thanks, I saw every country but that! :) Good point about the adapter, the older firewire iPods came with an adapter. But they didn't include this with the newer USB iPods, but they do appear to have them at the Apple Store.

Slapping myself audibly on the forehead...of course that charger is available...I had only to consult the Apple site.

Finally - my high school German classes did someone some good...until now, I'd only ever used them to order Wiener Schnitzel at the Hofbrau Haus!

If I had something like this my cats would swipe my phone/MP3 player/whatever in the middle of the night and the gadget would be gone forever. Have to keep things up and out of the way from those little critters...

Yes, you can buy USB power adapters. Apple has one for the iPod that'll run you $30, but you can find them a little cheaper everywhere else. My inferior (to the iPod-loving crowd anyway) RIO MP3 player came with one and it's perfect. My wife eventually "borrowed" it for her iPod since it was much more convenient than hooking it up to her computer and I haven't seen it since.

Edit: I meant to say you can find generic AC-USB adapters cheaper everywhere else. Not the Apple one specifically.

So cute! It looks like a little hammock for your iPod or whatever!

Is the material fire-proof? Electrical fire is no fun...

Under "Versandkosten" shipping cost it says that shipping to other countries then the ones mentioned is not possible. And I afraid the list above this text only mentions European countries.
So even though it seems like they might ship to the US they apparently don't.

UPDATE!!!

I e-mailed the company and asked them if they shipped to the US. Their reply is cut and pasted (verbatim, save the name changed to protect the innocent...love the salutation!) below:

Hell Mrs. Cxxxxxxx,

thank you very much for your e-mail.
Yes, we do ship to the US. We accept Amex, Visa and MasterCard.

Best regards,

Mit freundlichen Grüssen,

Fair-kaeuflich

Not sure if they've just made an English translation of the site available in the last few days, but I was directed straight to the English-language version of the site, and found the shipping info there. So they do ship to the USA, but it isn't cheap!
