You Asked For It: SlimKey Version 2

082108_tf_V2Stand2.jpgA bunch of you expressed interest in the SlimKey iMac stand with integrated fron USB hubs, but even more of you had criticisms and suggestions. Well the deisigners took your feedback into account this summer and came up with SlimKey V2, a more verstatile stand for iMacs and MacBooks (Although we don't see a reason that you couldn't put any slim monitor on it), with the USB hubs hidden to the side.

082108_tf_V2Stand3.jpg18.5 inches long, .11 inches high and 9 inches deep, the SlimKey V2 is powder coated in an aluminum color to match iMac and Apple Displays. And just like the original SlimKey, your Mac keyboard fits snuggly underneath.

Available now at Macessity.

now that's what i'm talking about, so much better with the hub on the side.

don't know if it's the photography, but it looks like it's bowing a bit under the weight of that cinema display. what happens when i get my 24" imac up on it?

ok i went and looked at their site. says it supports up to 35 lbs, so that would cover the 24" imac, i think they are 27 or so. Still looks like it's bowing in that photo though.

$65 seems a bit high though. Sub $50 and i'd be sold

I just unpacked mine last night. I can't imagine it would bow under the weight of either an imac or a monitor. There's a single peg dead-center that's there for added weight support. Of course, this also limits how far back you could push something underneath.

Keep in mind though, that the piece isn't aluminum like it looks. It's silver painted something (steel? it's heavy). Not a huge deal, but FYI.

Also, macessity sells these through other retailers and the price is often cheaper than through their own site. I save about $15 by purchasing from another retailers where both shipping and the cost were lower than at macessity.
