A New Trend? Paparazzi to Document Your Life

2007-09-20paparazzi.jpg

Guildry Santana wanted to make sure he was able to remember forever the moment he proposed to his girlfriend Emily Cappella last month, and not just in his memory. As covered in today's Thursday Styles Section of the New York Times, he hired a photographer to "lurk" on the street corner where he would propose, resulting in unique, candid pictures of the moment.

Turns out that there's a growing business in secretly photographing what is usually a very private moment, with photographers posing as tourists, or hiding in secret spots in a restaurant, covering the sound of the shutter clicks with clattering dishes.

Some women have found it unnerving, or a bit stalkerish, but the end results make them happy, despite the qualms they feel when they find out about it. The photos make for some really nice memories to share--maybe even though a digital picture frame of the whole experience.

A friend of mine hired an NYU photography student to capture his proposal while hidden in the bushes at a park- the pictures were amazing!
