Instead of showing the remaining battery life and shots left on the LCD, the upcoming Samsung NV9 camera shows information on a mini dashboard (complete with fluctuating needles) on top of the camera. Is this the way to go for future cameras? We have a feeling the gimmick police may enter in at any second, but we'll give Samsung the benefit of the doubt... for now.
The NV100HD is another camera that will be released soon, boasting 14.6MP - the highest we've ever seen.

It's been done before -- the Nikon 35ti (film point/shoot from about a decade ago) had fancy-pants dials too. Unfortunately it was a flash in the pan, I'd like this to catch on though.

I like that idea because it seems really cute and parent friendly to keep an eye on the battery level and how many shots they have left. my mum always runs out of battery!
I just wish that all point and shoot digital cameras had a manual viewfinder. While helping a friend replace his broken one there were so many that got rid of that feature and I like to use that when the batteries are low and I can just turn the screen off.
