CES 2008: Powerline Networking

2008-1-08powerline.jpgHave you ever wanted more speakers in your home, but not the cables that come with them? We've had our eye on powerline networking for awhile now. Using our pre-existing electrical wires to network our house seems like a pretty good thing. So we were pleased to check out the choices available at CES from the HomePlug Powerline Alliance. From your home network to your speakers, we saw a ton of options and we'll be bringing those to you in the coming days.

Oh, wow, this is timely! At lunchtime, UPS dropped off the NetGear Powerline system I bought. I got the 85MBPS Extender Kit and the 54 Mbps Wall-Plugged Wireless Range Extender. We put an addition on the house and the refrigerator blocks the signal into the new space. I'm hoping this solves the problem.
