CES 2009: Two More Anorexic HDTVs

011209_sz_thinscreens.jpg2009CES-Unplggd.jpgLast week the Consumer Electronics Show rolled through Vegas bringing with it hundreds of thousands of new product releases. One of the big trends of '09 seems to be the competition to develop the thinnest television. Ever since LCDs and plasmas became available, companies have been working on thinning out sets, but it's not until this year that's it's become such a huge selling point. In the past it was all about size -- who could make the first 50-inch flat screen, 80, 100! Now it's all about who can get a TV to less than an inch. As Anthony wrote last week, some of the big names like Samsung and Panasonic introduced their thinnest yet. We found two more super thin flat screens that should be hitting shelves soon...

Toshiba REGZA SV670 Series is LED backlit, which ups contrast ratio and decreases thickness, plus it uses less power than standard LCDs.

Hitachi's 1.5-inch-thin plasma display will go on sale in the US sometime during 2009.
