Silent Alarm Clock

081808_silent_01.jpgWaking up in the mornings is never easy, no matter what people might say. The jolt of the alarm clock or the cell phone is what wakes most of us up. It's never an easy transition to full wakefulness. Another problem is waking up your partner if you have to get up earlier.

081808_silent_03.jpgSwedish designer Johan Brengesjo has come up with a great solution to this problem. His silent alarm clock doesn't make any sound. Instead, it uses a vibrating ring to wake you up.

081808_silent_04.jpgThe silent clock also has a snooze function. Shake the ring and the alarm stops. However, after each time the ring necessitates more vigorous shaking in order to stop vibrating. Each person wears a ring, and each ring is tied to an alarm, making sure that you don't wake up your significant other.

For the moment, the silent alarm clock is still a concept. Until it's in production, you can try using your cell phone to almost the same effect. The vibration of a cell phone on a desk is usually enough to wake up most people. Another idea would be to strap the cell phone onto you while you sleep, or put it in the pockets of your pajamas.
