The Great Digital Analog Clock

111008_rg_digitalanalog_01.jpgIn our modern lives, there's always a small conflict between the digital and analog worlds. More and more, the analog technologies of the past are left aside in favor of the new digital ones. Nowhere is this more apparent than in clocks. Clocks have evolved a lot, yet still a lot of people prefer analog clocks to digital ones. This Japanese digital-analog clock tries to find a place in-between those worlds.

111008_rg_digitalanalog_02.jpgMasayoshi Suzuki of Pinto designed this simple yet functional clock, which works in the digital and analog realms. It was presented during Tokyo Designer's week. This clock shows time using digital and analog clocks. This isn't something new, but the way that it's designed is. The hours are shown using an analog clock hand and the minutes are shown using digital digits.

111008_rg_digitalanalog_03.jpgWe think that this clock works really well to combine both worlds. The look of the clock is simple, but it remains really efficient. Most people have no trouble telling what time it is when using an analog hand for the hours. They do however have trouble reading the minute hand. Most of the time, it's a quick approximation. This digital-analog clock solves that issue by presenting the precise minutes with a digital dial. [via DesignBoom]
