Wood LED Clock

081508_wood_01.jpgThe Wood LED Clock designed by Kouji Iwasaki takes the wood theme even further. We have seen wood used in similar fashion, but never like this. Wood was used as a case with the Furni Knox alarm clock.

081508_wood_03.jpgThese clocks have a thin layer of veneer that permits the LEDs to shine through, creating the illusion. The clocks are available in two different styles: a long version, best suited for a desk or nightstand, and a tall version, ideal for hanging on a wall or placing on a mantle.

081508_wood_04.jpgIwasaki won the top prize at the Asahikawa International design fair in 2002 for this clock The only problem is that the clock doesn't function as an alarm clock. It's available at Unica for $176.

There was a tutorial for this posted in Ready Made. It actually looks pretty simple to put together, assuming you have the proper tools. :)
