WoodStation: Wood, Clock and Weather Station

100808_rg_woodstation_01.jpgAt first glance, the WoodStation just looks like an ordinary block of walnut or maple. However, its internal motion sensor makes the wood light up from within, displaying the time, date, outside temperature/humidity and a helpful array of colorful icons delivering the weather forecast.

This is possible thanks to very think wood placed in front of LEDs, allowing the digits and data to shine through. That's really impressive, since most of the other wood clocks that we've seen used a veneer or varnish to simulate wood in front of the LEDs. Plus, it's bright enough to be seen in a sunny room. The icons are large enough that with a single glance, without reading the data, you'll be able to figure out what the weather is like. The WoodStation was initially a concept, but will soon be available on the French Amazon site.
