One number. One voice mail box. Google obviously thinks that this concept is something people are going to want as they have just acquired
Grand Central. What is it? Put simply, Grand Central is a single number that ties any and all your phone lines together. Mobile, home or office, all of them ring when your Grand Central number is dialed. It also provides more advanced features such as call blocking, call recording and the ability to define which phones ring depending on who is calling.
Currently, this is still in beta and requires an invitation to get setup so click here to reserve a number for when it fully rolls out.

unfortunately, they have no 212 area codes. pretty much a dealbreaker for me...

Ugh. No thanks. I don't want my home phone rigging off the hook with business calls. There's a reason my business contacts get my cell phone number, but not my home number.

joeq: nobody gets new 212 numbers anymore. Unless you know someone at Verizon or something.

I received an invitation to become a beta tester yesterday (and have ten to give away, if anyone wants one). Have tried to figure out if this would be useful and cheaper for my daughter, who is living in So. Korea for a year. Can't find a definitive answer anywhere. Any suggestions?

This is my biggest nightmare. Having business calls mixed in with friends/family and tele-marketers. It one alright. One big headache.
