It is clear that you all feel that digital photo frames have just not caught on. Will they ever? Is it just too weird to power on your photos, or do you think that it is just a waste to have an electronic display doing such a simple thing? Maybe if it did more you would change your mind?

Perhaps, and Samsung seems to think so. A combination of a traditional digital picture frame and the Mimo mini monitor, the difference here is something Samsung calls UbiSync PC. On its own, it does the digital frame thing, but plug it into the USB port of your computer and you instantly have additional screen real estate for your widgets, buddy lists or any other side things you want to clear off your main screen.
The good thing is that you can actually get this here in North America. 8 inches for $143 and 10 inches for $204

I think it's a great idea; if I could use it as an incredibly lightweight aux display for showing 'what's playing' on the stereo in a room far away from my computer. When the music is off it could default to a picture frame image. That would be quite choice.
Unfortunately this doesn't appear to work that way. I'd have to run some sort of USB cable from my stereo to my computer in the other room.
As just an aux display sitting next to my computer...it seems like the utility is pretty limited.

Sounds good for a relatively inexpensive price, I'll have to check this out.
