Computer On a Stick?

Samsung_conceptPC1.jpg

What you're looking at are two examples of the personal computer rethought by Samsung's design concept team. One looks like Ensign Crusher's Starfleet Academy training device, while the other looks strangely like an overhead flush toilet, with an on/off pull feature (perhaps it's also a projector, eliminating the need for a monitor). A third concept looks like a lap desk with three ping pong balls ontop...equally as perplexing in form and function. We're not really sure. But we do know that computing devices are taking evolutionary steps from their beige box roots to more interesting forms like these exploratory design exercises, hinting that what we currently equate with digital devices might be wildly different in the near future. And on a stick. [via Akihabara News]

The next thing we'll see are computers that are built into the water tanks of our toilets. The LCD touch-screen monitors will hang to one side, swinging upward, then swiveling into place in front of our faces (much like commercial airplane seat trays). Flushing doubles as rebooting the computer, to clean out the "cached files" and memory.

Not to mention the smell.

Damnit, light a match!
