Hello Shiny: Apple Unleashes New Redesigned Macbooks and Macbook Pros

101408_an_macbook_pro.jpgLooks like the moment we've all been waiting for. Apple just announced updates to their delicious laptop lines - the Macbook and Macbook Pro now have laser precision-cut casings, a graphics boost with advanced NVIDIA GPUs, an all-new smooth glass Multi-Touchtrack pad that makes the entire thing a clickable button, and little surprises everywhere. Could this be the best Macbook lineup yet?

Pricing for the Macbook starts at $1299 while the Macbook Pro will run you $1999. You can pick these up from the Apple Store.

I was hoping to replace my 15" 2.33ghz MBP but the glossy screen is a major turn-off for a graphic designer/photographer like me. :(

Oh well...

Well, I placed my order about 15 minutes after the announcement; my MacBook Pro should arrive Monday!

I think they're quite an improvement, and while I understand TekniKulay's point, in the color verification stage, aren't you using a CRT anyway? (or at least a non-laptop LCD screen)

FWIW, this isn't the glossy surface of old; it's glossy because it's glass, not a reflective film. You should be able to treat the glass to minimise reflections, if you are so inclined.

If it is a glass screen . . . is there a danger of it BREAKING???? I have been waiting, but now I am worried - I travel a lot and am not always nice to my laptop.
