Plushdepartment PC and Amp Ceramic Cases

111808Plushdepartment01.jpgPersonally, this is exactly where we hope PC case design is heading. Away from cheap plasticky finishes with garish lights and doo-dads shaped like bad rendition of Transformers toys and into the realm of understated object design that disappear into the decor when not in use (they're also advertised as extremely silent), yet pleases the eyes when you do happen to notice that ceramic piece on the desk is actually a computer or amp. Jeroen te Boekhorst from Plushdepartment sent us these images of their remarkable line of ceramic cases, including one finished in gold and another painted like a fine antique vase...

111808Plushdepartment02.jpgI am Jeroen te Boekhorst from Plushdepartment. Plushdepartment is based on the idea that computers are supermachines, which no longer can be banished from the daily life of a human being. The only thing we lacked was the design of the exterior, not allowing the computer to fit in a living space. We, of Plushdepartment, try to change this by combining powerful computers with living, organic and beautiful materials.
111808Plushdepartment03.jpgThe first models have a ceramic case, and already artists have given their vision on this case, which resulted in the Delft Blue and the Pure Gold.

111808Plushdepartment04.jpgThe french artist Mijn Schatje has also given her consent to make a design for the Pure. And in the future you can expect case designs from Piet Boon in concrete (this November) and Edward van Vliet (January)

Also http://www.hoojum.com ... are very similar in anodized aluminum and chrome. They used to be a but more minimal - less front vents on the older models. But all the same, much nicer than the stock shuttle XPC boxes they are based upon.
