The MacBook Air by Asus

Everyone loved the MacBook Air when it came out. So thin that it could fit inside an envelope. Now, the only problem I found with that laptop was that it didn't have enough ports and upgrading it would be a pain. A newer version was recently released. However, Asus have taken it upon themselves to expand their gigantic Eee PC product line to include something very slim, that is quite akin to a MacBook Air. Call it the Air for people who don't want to pay the premium for the Apple brand name.

I've noticed that a lot of women enjoy the MacBook Air. For anyone wanting something as slim as that, you don't have many choices. There is an MSI model out there, the X-Slim, that tries to do something similar as the new Asus Eee PC 1008HA. I like how the Asus Eee PC line is evolving. The initial models were pretty block-like and unappealing. Now, this new thin model looks pretty neat.

The netbook is 1" thick and weighs 2.4 pounds. It has a curved plastic body, reminding us of the MacBook Air. It's got similar specs to all of the Eee PCs that are on the market right now. This will go a long way to making Eee PCs more appealing. Personally, I think that Eee PCs are great for certain tasks. However, I'd never use a gadget like that for anything serious. It's perfect to take with you on travels and to store your photos if you've got one with a large HD. Naturally, this isn't a Mac. That's something you need to think about. However, since the prices of the Eee PCs are all around $300-500, it costs a fraction of the price of a MacBook Air.

I purchased a 4gb EEE when they first came out...shortly thereafter my everyday laptop decided that its motherboard was done...so for the last year I have been using the EEE for my primary pc...it goes almost everywhere with me...and I can stash it in my purse with no one noticing...

Even with my cat removing a key and the mouse clicker only working half the time...I'm still very happy with my purchase...I've dropped it multiple times and even *gasp* thrown my laptop short distances...my almost 100lb dog has also stepped on it while closed...it's very durable...

I would recommend Asus and the EEE line of laptops to anyone...I've had only minor (mostly user related) problems from it but would purchase another one in a heartbeat...it's been a very reliable product

I do hope that Asus releases a better battery for this "air" one...then it will definitely be on my wish list...

I do love my Apple computers, and wouldn't mind an Air as a second machine to my MBP, but can't justify the cost. Something like this would be great if I could turn it into a Hackintosh and sync most information.
