Concept: Download Your Own Chime Doorbell

061209_sz_doorbell.jpg Inspired by percussion, Mike Skene's DoorBell Project is made of 13 hand tuned aluminum chimes housed in a sycamore frame. Using an application like iTunes, you can download new ring tones directly to to the doorbell.

The chimes themselves are interchangeable and can be ordered both individually or in octave sets.

Skene's DoorBell Project will be on view at the New Designers 2009 exhibition, in the Business Design Centre, London, Islington from the 16th to the 19th July. In the meantime you can check out video here and more photos below.

Very cool! I'd get one.
And the chimes themselves might be beyond most DIYers. Though pending contracts for sales might keep them from sharing their secrets too.

You would download a chime from the internet to your laptop but you'd UPLOAD from your laptop to the doorbell.
