Philips LED Lampshade Concepts

050409philipsledshade1.jpgHow's this for future lighting options: adjusting the colour of the light with a touch or a twist, flipping a lampshade inside out to new forms while on, or dimming them with a gesture across the surface? These are all ideas behind electronics giant Philips LED concepts, which include flexible lampshades with the bulbs embedded into the form itself. Since LED bulbs last up to 100,000 hours, there's no need to worry about changing them out for the lifetime of the shade. It's not a matter "if", just "when" these sort of concepts begin flooding the market at consumer-friendly costs...seems ripe for an IKEA offering, doesn't it?

LED bulbs' cool operating temperatures can make for some unusual ideas of what the bulbs of the future may look like.
