Richard Hunt's Sound Seed Ceiling Speakers

Normally we do everything in our power to hide away visible cables and wires springing forth from our home audio and video equipment. But in the special case of Richard Hunt's Sound Seed ceiling speaker concept, the wires have been specifically designed as part of their aesthetic appeal, gracefully operating as suspension, power/sound source and continuing the sculptural seed shape upward to the ceiling...

The Sound Seed speaker concept as described by designer Richard Hunt:
Wires... nobody really likes them and wherever possible we choose to go wireless. Speakers however are not well suited to an untethered life as they require a reasonable amount of power. This design embraces the cable as an integral component. By enabling the speaker to be suspended by it's cable it creates a sculptural form which acoustically isolates each unit. They can be hung or draped from any suitable object. This also encourages the units to be positioned at ear level (rather than stuffed under a desk, like we all currently do).

The Sound Seed is unfortunately a concept-only, but if you've got the means, there are actual stylish ceiling mounted modern speakers available; the only problem is you'll have to travel over to Germany or find an importer to get yourself a set of the Grundig Audiorama speakers (but we think the effort would be well worth it).
