The $3000 Laptop Coffee Table

Zyane Tan's Fusion coffee table looks like part breakfast tray, part Sony VAIO laptop. The table splays open to reveal a touchscreen Tron-tastic LED illuminated laptop interior with a front loading DVD player so you can get to working as soon as you're finished eating your breakfast onto of the surface in the morning.

Born Rich is reporting this concept is actually going to see light of day as a production model for $3000, available in a patriotic array of options of red, white and blue LED illumination. We like the concept, as tech integration into furniture is a space saving ideal, but the execution looks like it needs a bit fine tuning (those table legs give off too much of a late 1999 "contemporary" furniture feel in our opinion).

Check out more of Zyane Tan's body of work over at his online portfolio.

When the table is closed it just looks like a really big laptop. This would be interesting if replacing your laptop didn't mean replacing an entire piece of furniture.

Also, I don't think it's a trend to have furniture with a giant brand logo on it. Or is that just me?
