Good Questions: Green LCD Cleaner?

7-24-2008flatscreen.jpgThis question comes from Callista: I recently purchased "iKlear Apple Polish" to clean my laptop and iPod screens with. The company claims that it is "environmentally friendly" but they do not disclose their ingredients on the bottle (nor can I find them on the website). It does say that it is manufactured in California and it is free of alcohol, ammonia, and sodium.

Do you guys know anything about this company and if its ingredients are actually environmentally friendly, or do you have an alternative suggestion to environmentally-friendly LCD cleaner?

Pretty much everyone's going to hate me, but it has to be said: "green" cleaning products suck.

You don't need to use any fancy "green" cleaner or otherwise. The key is to use a microfibre cloth, as used for eye-glasses. Gently (do not press hard or you could damage the screen with pressure) clean the screen with a dry microfibre cloth to pick up dust and light dirt. If you have a spot that doesn't come off so easily, dab some water, preferably distilled, onto the cloth and gently clean it. Don't spray any water on the screen directly, you don't want that running into the monitor.
