Look! Hide Unseemly Wall Sockets!

061109_rg_die_elec_01.jpgEven though we might think that most places don't have enough wall sockets, there are some houses and pads that just have sockets at the worst possible places. There wasn't much that you could do with these until now. Die Electric showcases a bunch of things that can be plugged into wall sockets to hide them effectively in plain sight, which is what we really like.

061109_rg_die_elec_02.jpgThis solution is pretty low-tech in our opinion, but it works really well. Designer Scott Amron has put together a bunch of things that can be plugged into wall sockets to hide them. Die Electric includes vases, flower pots, towels, toothbrush holders and more. The New York designer attached plugs to a whole bunch of items. This means that you can hide the sockets with something nicer.

We think that certain areas of homes need a lot of wall sockets. Areas like a desk or office should really have a lot more sockets than the kitchen or a play room. However, since it's never sure what people will do in the rooms of their homes, it's not easy to do this in advance, unless you are building your own home or are able to talk with the architects beforehand. Die Electric is a really funny and aesthetically pleasing way of hiding wall sockets from sight. [via Designboom, images Scott Amron]

Hmm - this guy wants us to burn the house down or electrocute ourselves - or both?

Plugging a washcloth into the outlet...........

If by hide you mean "call attention to", then yes.

Is it just me or does it seem stupid to put a vase with water in it ANYWHERE near a socket?

LMAO by the comments posted already!! I am pretty sure they are fake flowers, no water necessary... but I agree, this is an awful idea. Just another useless item that will end up in a landfill in a few years.

Why are they metal prongs? Child safety plugs are plastic inserts.

Better yet, just unscrew the faceplate and put a solid one over the outlets.
