TV Picture Frame at Raffles Hotel Beijing

2008_03_18-raffles-TV-frame.jpgWhile in Beijing a couple of weeks ago I was fortunate to spend some time in the Raffles hotel. Built in the 1900's, it is a beautiful building, so I was pleased when I finally noticed the 42 inch LCD TV hanging on the wall of the room.

The fact that is took a while to notice the TV was a good thing. I have seen many images of framed TV's online, but seeing this one in person gave a clear picture of how you can wrap pretty much any frame around a wall mounted TV. The key here is to build a box that is slightly deeper than the TV so that the frame has something to sit on while also hiding the unsightly edges of the TV itself. The only thing I didn't like about this setup is the visible wire for the remote control infrared sensor. This sensor was obviously hidden beneath the frame edge, but perhaps a small hole would have been a more attractive alternative.
