BUG: Build Your Own Gadget

2008-3-28buggadget.jpgTired of what's offered for gadget consumption? Why not make your own with a little help from BUG Labs?

BUG is a modular gadget that consists of a base and features that can be added as you wish. A BUGbase will run you $300 and each module will add $50-100 to the cost. Of the available modules, you can add a camera, a screen, GPS, or motion detection, with more being developed. Open source tools allow you to develop software, creating virtually any type of device you desire. Having the flexibility of making a gadget that does exactly what you want will cost you, but it's a DIYers dream.

this is elegant looking but it seems like a VERY expensive version of arduino [ www.arduino.com ] hardware or Max/Jitter/MSP software [ www.cycling74.com ] Hey, while you're on the cycling 74 site, check out the work that MONOME is doing- it's open source!
