Customize Your Bookcase with Digital Photos

100809billybookcase.jpgHere's an idea for converting that standard IKEA Billy bookcase into something more personal using printed/enlarged digital photos, as shown over at Votre Billy, a French site dedicated to customizing the ubiquitous shelving solution...

In reality, you could print out practically anything, whether photos or patterns (though we recommend you only use images/graphics of Creative Commons or free to use nature), to embellish shelving. We specifically like the idea of using different images for each section of a bookcase, perhaps using photos specifically shot with the intent of a bookcase layout. Or how about a cascading palette of hues of one colour like a paint or Pantone swatch book? Just be sure your inkjet printer has enough to manage!

That's cool...but then I wouldn't want to USE the shelves--coz they'd look too pretty to cover! ;-)

Jannarama me too! i wouldnt want to put anything on the shelves!

BUT for messy people.. maybe they could arrange their shelf in the ideal way.. take a picture of it.. print it and use that... then they can reference where things are MEANT to live!
