DIY Project: The USB Lipstick

011309_rg_usblipstick.jpgUSB flash drives come in all shapes and it's hard to find shapes that won't fit a USB drive. We've seen plenty of different ones out there, but there is nothing like making your own to suit your own needs. Previously, we found that the Pink Eraser USB was pretty cool. Now, the USB Lipstick is next. Read on to find out more.

This little project is perfect as a gift for your significant other or anyone else in your life that wears lipstick and uses computers. Flickr Make pool contributor Divine Harvester created this lipstick USB drive using a traditional lipstick. He removed the lipstick and cleaned out the remaining plastic pieces. He tore apart a flash drive and used J-B Weld to place it securely inside the stick. He cleaned it up and let it set for 24 hours.

He painted the top with some nail polish to make it look the same color as the rest of the lipstick. The end product is pretty cool and hides away in plain sight, which is always good for flash drives. It's probably as good as a place as a pink eraser to hide your flash drive. I would have never looked inside a lipstick to find data, that's for sure. We like it since it adds a feminine touch to something that is usually pretty mundane. Instead of buying new lipstick and trashing it, why not re-use the tube from finished lipstick? Or from the stuff in the back of the drawer that you KNOW is bad, because you can't remember when you wore it last, let alone when you bought it? I know I'll be saving my lipstick tubes from now on...
