How To: Create a Digital Memory Wall

This is a great, if slightly difficult and time-consuming, idea from My Home 2.0 DIY. The idea is to hook up a computer, with a bunch of monitors, or "picture frames," to the internet. Then install a photo-feed reader screen saver from Google to shuffle through your "playlist." The really cool part is that as new photos are added to these online streams, they show up on your memory wall. That means if you're tuned in to cousin Jane's Flickr, then you'll see her wedding photos up on your wall as soon as she uploads them. How's that for low-maintenance real-time memories? The instructions are clear enough, but we imagine it will take some master carpentry and patience to make this work. Well worth the effort though.

Nevermind, that video is better than the Comcast commercials!

I'd consider such an ambitious effort if there were a blowout sale on digital photo frames--those things are pretty expensive, no?

Six LCD monitors plus an always-on CPU -- sounds like a major power-suck. What do the folks at Re-nest think about this project?
