How To: Make a Cardboard Clone Nato Fukasawa CD Player

Just because the Muji online store has opened domestically doesn't mean you've got $142 for what is arguably obsolete technology (we haven't purchased a CD in ages), even if it's a modern classic and designed by Nato Fukasawa. But maybe you've got an old portable CD player and portable speakers hanging around that you don't mind busting open for some DIY tomfoolery. The folks over at VVank.com had the same idea, using a cheap-o portable CD player, a set of Philips portable speakers, a pull cord light switch, epoxy glue and some wiring to make their own budget clone of the Fukasawa player...

Putting the components actually seem to be the easiest part of the project. What would have helped was a cardboard template for the outside housing. A spray coat of paint (rubber dip paint?) would have given this DIY project DIY curb appeal, but we're totally impressed considering it's made out of what comes down to garage sale parts and some cardboard.
