Look! Minimalist Desk With Tons of Space

042308_sz_DSdesk.jpgThis great DIY project comes to us via Design*Sponge. While the desk as shown seems to be used for storage and crafts, this could easily be modified to be an office desk or TV stand...

The project uses a few oak boards from lowes, some metal L brackets, and a little elbow grease. The instructions are beyond easy and we're jealous we didn't come up with something just as crafty!

To mod it for your electronics you would simply need to add a step to create a hole in the top and bottom boards to feed A/V cables and power cables to their appropriate connections.

I like this idea, though it looks like it was designed to write cheques and not a lot more. I may do something like this... hmmm.

I'm not sure how sturdy this would be or how minimalist it'd look if you designed it for computer use where it'd have to be much deeper to accommodate a monitor and a keyboard. It seems rather precious and not set up for any real sort of work. Even as a crafting desk, you could never do any sort of large projects.

It's more of a floating shelf than a desk.

Orchid64,
I agree, it's not for people who have to work on their computers all day. But, for those who have a computer at home that they use occasionally I feel like you could keep it minimalist as a computer workstation if you put your laptop in the cubby hole and fed cables up to the monitor up top. You could build a retractable keyboard that could tuck into the cubby when you're not using the computer.

It's true though that you would want to maybe use deeper slabs of wood...
