I've got a iPhone and had to replace my headphones with the mic twice because the cable got damaged.

it's a good method but i just don't like the idea of carrying around something extra just to wrap my headphones. we're trying to consolidate different functions into one device, not bring more things with us.
i enjoy having a firm plasticky bulge protruding from my pants as much as the next guy - but not at the expense of carrying something else with me.
