Tech Tip: Use a Plastic Card to Organize Cables

So you've arranged your desk so that all your necessary peripheral cords and cables are mostly hidden. You've made sure just the business ends of your iPod and digital camera cords are peeking out. The trouble is, they keep falling behind the desk. Before you spend your afternoon taping cords to the back of the desk, try to remember that the simplest solutions are always the most effective...

Taking any plastic card, like a credit card (even those dummy ones you get in the mail!) or in this case a hotel key card, and turning it into a makeshift cord organizer couldn't be easier.

All you need is a strong single-hole puncher and a pair of scissors for cutting the slits that let you slide cords in and out.

We could even see this being used to keep cords from tangling in storage or behind the entertainment unit. Just cut two cards in half lengthwise and give them the hole punch treatment. Then you'll have four "spacers" to place along a mess of wires to keep them tidy!

That's a great idea I'll have to give it a try sometime this weekend. I have a great tutorial for organizing wires underneath a desk that would go pretty good with this one.
