Projectors can give you big screen options, but where to install the awkward gizmo can be a challenge. If you want a great picture you tend to have to install your new device in the middle of the room, but that can be a bit jarring. Los Angeles Small Cool 2008 finalist, Jordan, installed his on a bookshelf that also acts as a room divider...
Jordan placed his Epson MovieMate 30s on an Ikea Expedit turned on its side.
"Since the projector has to live in the middle of the room, and because i can't hang it from the ceiling, it solved a rather awkward arranging predicament."
The Epson Moviemate goes for about $600, but Jordan scored a refurbished one for $400. He spent the extra cash on a wide screen Da-Lite Model B projections screen.
"Right now, I'm just using the built-in speakers that came with the projector. Though it's not ideal, this is the added benefit of a small apartment -- A little audio goes a long way. That said, of course I'm planning to upgrade to something more badass as soon as bachelorly possible."
