Classy Digital Switchplates by SDesignUnit

033009_an_digital_lightsiwtch.jpgWhether you prefer to keep it Cartesian or having some Sailor Moon infusion, it never hurts to get a little creative when it comes to adding a bit of character one of the most overlooked fixtures in our homes - the light switch. Designed by South Korea’s Daelim construction company, Seoul-based SDesignUnit, are an array of smart light switches, temperature controllers, and visually stunning outlets that give a new life to the 20th century "digital home."

033009_an_digital_lightsiwtch2.jpgThe main difference compared to traditional switch plates is the polished square shape design vs. your old school traditional rectangular shape. The design is supposedly more "user-friendly" in nature since the rectangular shape never made much sense to begin with. Their "Switch" model is a ‘push button type’ with an LED light emitting from inside. Its increased usability comes from the simple molding covered with a metallic plate, which supposedly helps users find them rather naturally.

033009_an_digital_lightsiwtch3.jpgThey also specialize in making digital thermostats that utilize touch sensors, making it quick and easy to change settings on the fly without having to open a break-out box and scavenge for directions (if they even exist).

Pricing and availability, as well as a glimpse of their upcoming Home Networking Display System, can be found on their site over here.

I love these, but I wish I knew where to find these in the US... or to have them bought there & shipped here.
