JOININ' LED Lamp is Lit by Contact

052709_tf_joininlamp1.jpgA lamp without a power switch seems like the front contender for the Design Flaws that Ruined Great Gadgets list. But this lamp lights up and shuts down with a more unique method: using little electricity-conducting trinkets.

052709_tf_joininlamp2.jpgFrom designers Qian Jiang & Yiying Wu, this lamp is lit with 8 LEDs that each have a corresponding pair of electrical contacts positioned on the base of the lamp.

When the pair is connected with a coin or piece of jewelry, the LEDs will light up, making this a pretty automatic landing strip light. As soon as you throw your change down and take your earrings off, you'll be surrounded by the light of one to eight LEDs, depending on whether or not you spent all your quarters at the vending machine.
